Ducati Monster Dark: an all-black Monster that costs less, from $19,525 ride away in Australia
Motorcycle News ·

Ducati has added a stealthier, cheaper version of its best-selling naked bike. The new Monster Dark wears all-black paint and black wheels, keeps the same 890cc V2 engine and electronics as the regular Monster, and trims the price by moving a few items onto the options list. In Australia it is listed from $19,525 ride away (indicative).
What is the Monster Dark?
The Dark is a pared-back Monster. Ducati describes it as “Everything you need, nothing more.” The bodywork, wheels and finish are black (the colour is called Dark Stealth), with a single-material seat and the front frame, exhaust end caps and intake snorkel left exposed.
The main difference from the regular Monster is equipment. The Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 (up and down) is standard on the regular Monster but optional on the Dark. Cruise control, multimedia connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and Power Launch are also accessories rather than standard fit.
Engine and chassis
- Engine: 890cc liquid-cooled 90-degree V2 with Intake Variable Timing (IVT)
- Power: 111 hp at 9000 rpm
- Torque: 91.1 Nm at 7250 rpm, with more than 80 per cent of peak torque available from 4000 to 10,000 rpm
- Weight: 175 kg wet without fuel, the same as the regular Monster
- Frame: aluminium monocoque
- Suspension: 43mm Showa upside-down fork; Showa rear shock with preload adjustment
- Brakes: twin 320mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 calipers, Bosch Cornering ABS
- Tyres: Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV, 120/70 front and 180/55 rear
- Fuel: 14 litres
- Seat height: 815mm, or 795mm with the accessory low seat and 775mm with the low seat and lowering kit
- Service: valve-clearance checks every 45,000km
The electronics package is unchanged from the regular Monster: a six-axis IMU running cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and engine brake control, plus Sport, Road, Urban and Wet riding modes and a 5-inch colour TFT dash.
Australian price
Ducati Australia lists the Monster Dark from $19,525 ride away (indicative), according to MCNews. That is $1,200 less than the entry-level Monster in Ducati Red and $1,900 less than the red Monster+. Ducati notes that actual pricing can vary by dealer, state of registration and individual circumstances.
Ducati says dealer availability starts from November 2026 internationally, but a local delivery date has not been confirmed for Australia.
There is no LAMS version of the Monster Dark mentioned.
New Zealand price
NZ pricing and arrival are not yet announced.
Who is it for?
If you want a Monster and plan to ride it as a straightforward road bike, the Dark gets you the same engine, chassis and safety electronics for less. If you want the quickshifter and cruise control, compare the cost of adding them as accessories against the price of the regular Monster or Monster+.
