What cookies and browser storage do
Cookies are small pieces of information a website stores in your browser and may receive on later visits. Local storage keeps preferences in the same browser without automatically sending them with every request. Both can help a website remember choices and provide features.
RiderMates preferences
The RiderMates app uses local storage for these features:
- Regional edition — rm_edition_choice_v1: remembers the edition you choose, such as New Zealand.
- Appearance — rm_theme: remembers your chosen light or dark theme.
- Saved bikes — rm_saved: remembers your saved-bike shortlist in that browser.
These preferences can remain until you clear the site’s stored data. They are specific to your browser and device; clearing them may reset your edition, appearance and saved bikes. Using private browsing or blocking storage can prevent these features from being remembered.
Essential website functions
WordPress and the services that deliver and protect the site may use cookies for essential functions such as login sessions, administration, security and content delivery. Login cookies apply when you sign in. You do not need a WordPress login to browse public RiderMates pages or use the contact form.
Maps, external content and links
Maps and other content delivered by external providers can cause your browser to connect to those providers, sharing technical information such as your IP address and browser details. External sites you visit through dealer links, directions or other links apply their own cookie and privacy policies. Their storage is controlled by those providers and your browser settings.
Manage your choices
You can view, block or delete cookies and site data in your browser’s privacy settings. To reset RiderMates preferences, remove stored data for ridermates.com. This may also sign you out and remove your saved-bike shortlist. Blocking all cookies or storage may affect login and other website functions.
If additional optional analytics or advertising technologies are introduced, this page should be updated to explain them and any applicable choices before they are used.
