Yamaha NMAX E and XENTER E: electric scooters with 3.5 kWh batteries and over 100 km range
Motorcycle News ·

Yamaha has revealed two all-new electric scooters at EICMA in Milan: the NMAX E, an electric take on its popular NMAX urban scooter, and the XENTER E, a big-wheel commuter. Both use a new compact electric drive unit and a fixed 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, with claimed ranges just over 100 km.
NMAX E
Yamaha calls the NMAX E a next-generation premium urban sport scooter and says it is intended for global markets. It uses a newly designed backbone frame, with the battery and motor placed centrally to keep the centre of gravity low.
- Battery: fixed lithium-ion, 3.5 kWh
- Range: 104 km (WMTC mode)
- Drive: newly developed lightweight, compact eAxle
- Riding modes: three (S/T/E)
- Other features: reverse function, underseat storage for a full-face helmet (depending on helmet size and shape)
XENTER E
The XENTER E rides on 16-inch wheels front and rear and uses a new underbone frame. It shares the 3.5 kWh battery, eAxle drive, three riding modes and reverse function with the NMAX E, and claims slightly more range at 108 km (WMTC mode).
Charging and tech
Both scooters have a new onboard charger that works with home and public charging stations, and a 5-inch TFT display that connects to the Yamaha Motor On app for turn-by-turn navigation, vehicle location, distance travelled and remaining charge. Both are built by Yamaha Motor Vietnam.
Yamaha has not yet announced motor output, top speed, weight, charging times or prices.
Australia and New Zealand
Yamaha has not yet announced whether either scooter will be sold in Australia or New Zealand. If they do come, the motor output will decide which licence class they fall into, and that figure is not yet announced.
