2027 Honda Fireblade revealed: 75 per cent new, plus an HRC Works Edition for WorldSBK
Motorcycle News ·

Honda has shown a heavily reworked CBR1000RR-R Fireblade at EICMA in Milan. About 75 per cent of the bike’s parts are new, and the range now includes a road-legal HRC Works Edition built to homologate parts for the World Superbike Championship.
Three versions
- Fireblade: the standard bike, with a Showa Big Piston Fork and Showa BFRC-lite rear shock.
- Fireblade SP: electronic Öhlins NPX Smart-EC3.0 fork and TTX36 Smart-EC3.0 shock, a magnesium cylinder head cover that saves more than 200 g, and an exposed titanium fuel tank with no plastic cover.
- HRC Works Edition (new): a homologation model with carbon-fibre front winglets, front guard and rear duct fairing, mechanically adjustable Öhlins suspension and Brembo Hypure brakes. Honda says it is designed to be road-legal subject to each market’s rules.
What’s changed
The 999cc inline-four gains a two-stage variable-length intake funnel, a first for a mass-produced Honda motorcycle, and a refined two-motor throttle-by-wire system. Honda hasn’t released power or torque figures yet.
The chassis focus is on feel rather than stiffness. The aluminium twin-spar frame is 440 g lighter and has 20 per cent less lateral rigidity, while keeping the same torsional rigidity. The swingarm pivot shaft shrinks from 20 mm to 17 mm, cutting lateral rigidity there by 12 per cent. Honda also offers an HRC racing kit, including a race ECU and a bottom-neutral shift pattern; fitting it voids the factory warranty.
Australia and New Zealand
Honda calls it a 2027 model but hasn’t given prices, release dates or markets. Whether the HRC Works Edition will be offered here, and whether it can be registered, is not yet announced. We’ll update this story when Honda Australia and Honda New Zealand confirm details.
