Suzuki GSX-10R and SV-7S revealed: a 152PS road sportsbike and a new-look SV with a LAMS version for Australia
Motorcycle News ·

Suzuki has revealed two new road bikes at EICMA in Milan: the GSX-10R, a 999cc inline-four sportsbike built for the road rather than the racetrack, and the SV-7S, a modernised take on the long-running SV650 V-twin. The SV-7S will come to Australia in both full-power and LAMS form, and both bikes are expected locally around mid-2027.
GSX-10R: a sportsbike for real roads
The GSX-10R uses a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four from Suzuki’s long-stroke K5 family, with new cams, cylinder head, barrels and crank journals plus a four-into-one exhaust. Suzuki quotes 152PS at 11,000rpm and 106Nm at 9,250rpm, and the bike meets Euro 5+.
It sits in an aluminium twin-spar frame with a new swingarm and subframe, and a 30mm steering-stem offset (down from 35mm on the GSX-S1000). Suspension is a fully adjustable 43mm KYB fork, with Brembo front brakes and an electronic steering damper.
- Kerb weight: 214kg
- Seat height: 810mm
- Wheelbase: 1,455mm
- Fuel tank: 18 litres
- Tyres: 120/70ZR17 front, 190/55ZR17 rear
Electronics
The headline is the electronics suite. Suzuki lists a six-axis IMU system with three power modes, 10-level traction control, lift (wheelie) control, roll torque control and Suzuki’s first slide control system. There’s also launch control, engine-brake control, lean-sensitive and slope-dependent ABS, a bi-directional quickshifter, Smart Cruise Control, an active speed limiter and a brake-hold function that holds rear brake pressure for about 30 seconds. A colour TFT links to the Suzuki Ride Connect+ app, and the indicators include Suzuki’s Ground Beacon System, which lights the ground.
Colours are blue/silver, red/grey and grey/black. Suzuki says GSX-10R sales will start country by country from summer 2027 (northern hemisphere).
SV-7S: the SV650 formula, updated
The SV-7S keeps the 645cc liquid-cooled 90-degree V-twin in a steel trellis frame but adds ride-by-wire for the first time. Suzuki quotes 73PS at 8,500rpm and 64Nm at 6,800rpm, with the softest of three power modes limiting peak output to 61PS.
It gains three-level traction control (switchable off), a bi-directional quickshifter, Easy Start and Low RPM Assist, plus a 4.2-inch colour TFT with Suzuki Ride Connect+ and turn-by-turn navigation. There’s a new tapered aluminium handlebar and full LED lighting.
- Kerb weight: 200kg
- Seat height: 785mm
- Fuel tank: 14 litres
- Suspension: 41mm telescopic fork, link-type rear shock with seven-step preload
- Brakes: twin 290mm front discs with four-piston calipers, ABS
Suzuki says SV-7S sales begin from spring 2027 (northern hemisphere).
Australia and New Zealand
MCNews reports that the SV-7S will be offered in Australia in full-power and LAMS versions, arriving around mid-2027, with the GSX-10R also expected around mid-2027. Australian LAMS output figures, prices and colours have not yet been announced. New Zealand pricing and timing have not yet been announced either. The SV650 has long been a popular learner-approved choice, so a LAMS SV-7S with ride-by-wire, traction control and a quickshifter should be one to watch.
